Weekly roundup: Film fellowship, LGBTQ history, theatre

The Brave New Fellows Program is now accepting applications! This program, now in its second year, offers social-justice advocates from communities of color and/or economically marginalized communities a one-year, paid opportunity to work with Brave New Films and learn how to create and distribute media that makes a difference. Fellows will work out of the company’s Culver City, California office. Learn more!

History UnErased works to put the stories of LGBTQ people in textbooks and educational curricula, where they belong but have been excluded. Watch short videos the organization has made with people on such topics as HIV/AIDS, gender and bullying, activism and sports, and more. Each video has an accompanying set of educational materials for classrooms.

Theatre of the  Oppressed NYC has some excellent shows coming up in New York. The organization’s shows — performed by people who are facing the problems the plays address, such as homelessness or homophobia — are electrifying. Check the organization’s schedule of events.
